One of the first and most important steps in planning your perfect wedding day is deciding on how you are going to invite your wedding guests. We would strongly urge you to NOT even think about doing this by text or email. Surely one of the most important days in your life is worthy of a bit more time, effort, formality and elegance? Remember your wedding invitation is a reflection of your style and taste and sets the tone for your big day!

So once you've understood the importance of a real, as opposed to virtual, wedding invitation what on earth do you send?

POCKETFOLD WEDDING INVITATIONS

Well do not panic. There's a wonderful array of styles and formats that will leave your guests very impressed. One of the most popular and one that brides say 'I do' to all the time is the pocketfold wedding invitation.

We love these. And so do thousands of brides and groom all over the world. From Canada to Canberra, the pocketfold is popping through letterboxes everywhere!

PRETTY AND PRACTICAL

What's so fabulous about these wonderful wallets is that they look elegant but they are very practical too.

The typical pocketfold compresses an inside pocket for holding inserts, a space for the invitation and then a fold over flap which can be tied with a beautiful ribbon or secured in a host of other ways.

The neat pocket means you can add your RSVP insert plus additional cards containing important details and info such as gift list, directions, accommodation etc. It's all kept together and nothing falls out or goes astray.

POCKETFOLD OPTIONS

These wedding invitations also come in a range of shapes, sizes and card finishes. Most popular are the A6 rectangle versions, followed by a stylish square or DL option. It really is a matter of personal choice and taste. There's no wrong or right because they're all fabulous.

You can choose from an impressive selection of cardstocks too, including smooth, pearlescent, embossed, metallic and in any color you want.

THE BEAUTY OF BESPOKE

If you have a specific design in mind, it's best to hunt out a bespoke wedding stationery specialist who can take your ideas and create a completely tailor-made wedding invitation to your exact requirements. Your pocketfold wedding invitation can then be designed in your unique theme, scheme, color and style.

Of course you can buy a standard design from online companies but you may not get exactly what you want. If you can afford the expense, then a bespoke specialist company is best. Simply go online and hunt around for a local wedding stationery specialist. If you can visit and speak to someone in person that's even better. It's always a good idea to see real samples so you can assess the quality of what's on offer. There's many cheap products out there on places like eBay and you really do get what you pay for!

So while you are going for vintage with lace, shabby chic with hessian or a modern monogram, the pocketfold can easily be designed in your dream style. And leave your wedding guests talking about your great taste!

As anyone getting married knew all too well, planning a wedding can be both exciting time and a very stressful one. Although one is looking forward to tying the knot, there are many things to be organized and to take into consideration to ensure that not only the wedding goes smoothly but all the guests have a fantastic time too.

Unfortunately this means that for many people the actual wedding day itself can be particularly stressful, when it should in fact be one of the happiest days of your life. To make sure that your stress does not get out of control on your wedding day, try these pieces of advice to stay calm and ensure everything goes smoothly.

The first thing to do to ensure that you are less stressed about your wedding day is to eliminate the threat of uncertainty. Unpredictable things happen, especially at those occasions where something is bound to go wrong if you are willingly praying for things to go right. Maybe your solo wedding singer will be 30 minutes late after being stuck in traffic, or your wedding dress might get a tear.

When things to go wrong, do not let this stress you out, as there is a way to mitigate all of the potential issues that could have arisen on your big day. The way to eliminate this uncertainty is to plan a generous amount of time for each stage of the wedding day, right from the morning events when your guests arrive the ceremony, right through to the last person leaving your reception at night.

Some people are sure to arrive early, others will arrive late, the wedding ceremony itself may be held up, and you may have to drag people from your reception venue in very early hours in the morning after they have had too much to drink. Plan generously with your time and this will allow you room to deal with any unexpected issues that can occur.

To do this, make sure that you plan a strict schedule for your day but leave room on either side for unexpected events. Guests will often be very patient if they have to wait, so you have nothing to worry about if you exceedimate a little bit of your time rather than underestimate it. This also gives everyone room to breathe and the chance to deal with any expected events.

Another tip to reduce your stressful feelings on your wedding day is to make sure that you double check everything with your vendors and entertainment services the day before the big celebration. This ranges from checking up with your solo wedding singer that everything is going to plan, right through to double checking with the catering service and photographers that you will be using too.

Although the best piece of advice is to make sure that you choose quality vendors in the first instance, and this in itself should mean that you have a minimum of problems, doing last minute checks can help increase any difficulties or misunderstandings in advance and leave you a few less things to worry about on the big day.

One of the best tips to bear in mind in the lead up to the wedding and to ensure that you have a minimum of stress is to take a couple of days off before the big day itself. Weddings are a lot of stress and hassle to plan, and this can easily lead to a build up of tension that just accumulates on your wedding day.

Taking a short breath just before your wedding means you will be able to get a bit of perspective and come into the ceremony and reception much more relaxed. A refreshed and positive attitude can go a long way in helping you deal with the unexpected if it should occur on your special day too.

From double checking with your catering services and solo wedding singer, to being purposely flexible with time on the big day, these tips can help relieve a lot of stress and mean you enjoy this very special occasion as much as possible.

Have your cake and eat it too! Get your dream wedding as well as your dream honeymoon without pinching pennies by using a honeymoon registry.

Did you know that according to a recent survey by Bride to Be magazine, the average Australian wedding costs $ 65,482? It can get very pricing hiring vintage cars, champagne fountains, goodie bags and string quartets to make your dream day a reality. Over 65K on one day is a lot of money by anyone's standards. And you're expected to be able to afford your dream honeymoon too after spending all that on your dream wedding? Yeouch!

For most couples, this may just not be something that is achievable. But how do you go about having your dream wedding and having your dream honeymoon? How can you have your cake and eat it too?

The best way to build your dream honeymoon (and do not have to skimp on your wedding costs to do it!) Is by setting up a honeymoon registry, instead of accepting physical gifts from your friends and family at your wedding. Let's face it, the majority of us have what we need around the house anyway, right? Who needs a fancy vase when you can skip over to Bora Bora for a month or so?

If you have not heard of a honeymoon registry as yet, then what you need to know is that they are set up so that each guest may donate a given amount towards the wedded couple's honeymoon costs. If all the guests at your wedding are donating costs towards your honeymoon, then you are likely to be able to take your dream honey without putting any money towards it yourself.

Honeymoon registries are usually done online. Cash wishing wells at weddings (which could be for your honeymoon) are now becoming a little bit of a faux pas. A honeymoon registry may have an unlimited dollar amount to donate to your honeymoon, or suggested increments to choose from.

The other items you can add to your honeymoon registry may be special activities that you do instead during your holiday. These can be things like a couple's reflexology treatment, a 3 night accommodation package at a specific hotel, a jungle safari, or even an amazing degustation meal for two at a special restaurant. These sorts of items may appeal to your guests who are wanting to provide a gift that is a little more personal than just a dollar donation amount going towards your airfare or spending money while away.

Why not consider a honeymoon registry instead of the traditional gift registry or gift donation? If you want to take your dream honeymoon and still go all out for your wedding, then it's a fantastic option.

As a wedding stationery designer One of the questions I often get asked is how a wedding invitation should be correctly worried. It's a reasonable question since most people have never married married before and never had to deal with this.

There are certain rules of etiquette and convention which should be followed so to make it easy here's a guide on how to hit the right note!

NAMES

The names on the invitation depend on who is hosting the wedding.

If you and your partner are hosts:

The wedding invitation should be written with you as the people doing the inviting.

If the bride's parents are acting as hosts:

Mr and Mrs John Smith request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of their daughter, Mary, to Mr James Jarvis at St John's Church, Reigate, on Saturday 15th September 2016 at three o'clock and afterwards at Raleigh Hall, Sutton, Surrey .

Always include an RSVP address printed in the bottom left-hand corner of the invitation if you are not including a separate RSVP card.

If the bride's parents are divorced and her mother has remarried:

Mr John Smith and Mrs Patrick Cook …

If the bride's parents are divorced but her mother has not remarried:

Mr John Smith and Mrs Barbara Smith …

If the bride's mother has remarried and is hosting the wedding with the bride's stepfather:

Mr and Mrs Patrick Cook request the pleasure of your company at the marriage of her daughter Mary. The bride's surname can be added if you think that would be helpful.

OTHER RULES

Here are some things to remember when you're composing a formal invitation:

Write out names in full, including middle names – do not write names as initials.

Spell out all words in the address, including Street, Road and Avenue. The two exceptions to this rule in an address are Saint (St.) and Mount (Mt.)

When a Roman Catholic mass is part of the ceremony, invitations may include the phrase “and your participation in the offering of the Nuptial Mass” on a separate line below the groom's name

Etiquette says that the bride should be listed first before the groom, using first and middle names only. Then the groom should be listed, using both title and middle name.

Numbers in the street address mentioned on the invitation are written in numerals eg (“323 Windsor Street”. But when there is just one number, it is spelled out: “Thirty Windsor Street”.

ASKING FOR GIFTS

It can seem indelicate mentioning wedding gifts in your wedding invitations but it is not considered unusual or rude to do so. Most wedding guests wish to give something to the couple and there are ways to keep it simple.

Since most couples have already set up a home together they have no need of the old-fashioned department store gift listing requesting pots and pans and so on. What is much more common is a request for money or a contribution towards the honeymoon. The most polite and charming way to do this is to include a small verse or poem. There are many to choose from and a simple search online will bring up many suggestions. Here's one we like:

When thinking of a gift for us

We ask if you'd please consider

Contributing to our honeymoon

to make it all the sweeter.

Our house is full of all the things

a couple could require,

and so a holiday away

is what we most desire.

Then while we're relaxing on the beach

Egypt by the pool so blue

we'll sit back and know

that it is truly thanks to you!

7 Tips for Choosing the Right Furniture for Your Wedding

The countdown has begun and it is almost time to get hitched. The countdown has begun and it is almost time to get hitched. Make the whole wedding affair a magical and dreamy celebration by choosing the right venue, the perfect décor and the right furniture for your d-day. Furniture, which most often goes overlooked in all wedding preparations, actually has the potential to create style statements and define the entire space. When a couple as beautiful as you is ready to take the vows, everything should be posh and proper (even if it's just about furniture or prop rental). Here's what factors you should consider when choosing the right party furniture for your wedding day:

  • Theme: Whether you are planning for a nuptial inspired by the vintage glamor or want to create a wintery look with some fir trees and fake snow, a themed wedding demands the right furniture that compliments the theme. Make sure you rent the furniture according to the theme. Go for a lilac and gray theme or a classic white theme, match the theme with the right furniture and go quirky luxe.
  • Venue: If you are looking to get hitched far from home, like in some sun kissed beach in Mexico or a ritzy chateau in France, make sure that the furniture you use is apt for the specific location. For example, a beachside wedding needs waterproof and sturdy furniture that does not get damaged easily.
  • Style: The type of furniture you choose also depends on the style of the wedding. If it is an outdoor wedding like on a farm, garden, country club or a winery your choice of furniture will be different from what you choose in case of an indoor wedding, like a restaurant, studio, resort or your own house.
  • Color Scheme: Metallic, pastel, fuchsia, lilac or all-white, color schemes will play an important role in choosing your wedding furniture. When you are looking for furniture for your d-day, keep in mind the color schemes that you are planning to incorporate in the décor so that you do not end up with furniture that looks out of the place.
  • Get Inspiration: So you like the setting of that restaurant you visited last weekend? Why not find more inspiration from your favorite restaurant, bar or haunt? Borrowing furniture ideas from them is not a bad option after all. Browse through the lifestyle sections of magazines and get more ideas on choosing the right furniture for your wedding.
  • Comfort: When you are choosing furniture for your wedding, give as much importance to comfort as you give to style. Uncomfortable sitting can be annoying for the guests and can create a negative impression about the whole wedding affair. Also, make it a point to keep the furniture neat and tidy for the comfort of the guests.
  • Rugs and Pillows: Mix and match pillows and rugs with the furniture to spruce up the décor. Play with colors and patterns to create a setting that is elegant, fun and dreamy. Go with the latest trends and pick up what is in vogue. A professional help will certainly be of much help.

Is Your Wedding Guest List Designed To Test The Strength Of Your Marriage?

6,200.

That's the average number of daily weddings that are performed every day in the United States.

And on average they have 170 guests.

Now getting married just because you love the feeling of your beating heart when you think of your beloved is the wrong thing.

Or if enjoy the sex. Or want to have sex.

Are also horrible reasons to get married.

This is because the passion is fleeting and will calm down.

Marriage takes hard work and commitment.

And lots of sacrifices. In particular if you have kids.

For example when you are dating you might go go out every weekend on a date. Have a nice dinner, see a movie and come home to regular rounds of bedroom time.

Once you get married then you find that you do not have the budget to eat out every night.

You're working all day and come home and too tired to do anything but go to sleep.

Then the babies come.

The sleepless nights. Then they start to grow up and you have not seen a movie not starring a cartoon animal in a decade.

Your husband complains he has not seen his favorite team play live because your busy busy watching 4 year old kids chase a soccer ball.

That is of course all in the future.

But, you will get the first sense of marriage will be like once you start planning the wedding.

Planning a wedding is a little like Eisenhower planning the invasion of Normandy.

There are dozens of things to work on. And make sure they get taken care of.

Many of the items such as the dress, cake, venue and stylists need to be bought or reserved months in advance.

And of course you must set your budget because if there is one thing in life that can quickly absorb all cash you want to spend, it's a wedding.

This gets us to the wedding guest list.

The guest list will often be the first test of the marriage.

Because the guest list is what stretches both the budget and the politics.

For example if you are like most people, you are on a tight budget for the wedding.

If you want to spend more money on the dress, the food or the honeymoon then the best way to shrink the costs is to cut the guest list.

But if you do not do this equally – for example cutting more guests from the groom side than the bride side, can lead to a fight.

And not only a fight but one that has pain that lingers into the marriage.

So make sure to agree upon the size and makeup of the guest list early.

You also need to make sure to know if there are any guests that should not mix.

A wedding should be a joyous occasion.

Not the time to settle the Hatfield and McCoys.

I am glad you are getting married. A wedding is a happy time.

But it does take time to plan.

And a budget.

So use these tips on how to use your guest list to maximize your budget.

3 Creative Ways To Have A Unique Wedding

If you want your wedding to be memorable then it must be unique.

There are several ways to make your wedding unique and in this article we will share a few ways to do that.

Wedding Venue

The most common way for a wedding to be memorable is the venue.

This does not have to be wacky. For example sitcoms are always getting married in some type of warehouse or abandoned place.

You could choose to get married at a nice home, a local garden or if you are school sweethearts maybe in the school cafeteria.

Or you could choose to get married in a destination wedding.

Such as Las Vegas, A Disney theme park or in a foreign country.

As an example you could get married on the beach in the Caribbean. Such as Jamaica, Cayman Islands or Bermuda.

These are wonderful paradises and many have wedding packages you can purchase.

You can also get married at sea. Pretty much every cruise ship will have a wedding chapel. And another benefit of getting married at sea is that you have your honeymoon built into the package too.

However, if you are going to get married in a destination wedding make sure you have all of the paperwork squared away.

Wedding Outfit

Another way to be unique is to be creative with your outfit.

I am saying outfit and now the dress because there is a lot of options here.

For example you could have a traditional dress but wear tennis shoes for your shoes.

I had a friend who wore brand new white Nike high-tops with blue laces. That way she covered something new and something blue.

And it was such a cute fashion statement.

Or a unique piece of jewelry.

Or do something creative with your hair. If there is a day to show off with your hair or makeup a wedding is the day.

Wedding Bands

An area that people do not think about to be creative is the wedding bands.

Jewelers are real artists. Talk to them about your dreams and see what they can come up with.

For example besides your ring having a diamond it could have other gemstones.

And for a second we can be real – diamonds are kind of boring.

Yeah, we're all marketed that they are glorious. But they are just sparkles.

Lots of other gemstones are more colorful.

Or if you are really brave, you could forgo the jewelry and get a tattoo.

So if you are getting married you want to make it memorable.

These tips will help you make it unique without breaking the bank or tradition.

How To Find A Wedding Dress

According to the Knot the average wedding dress costs over $ 1,200. And because the bride is the focal point of any wedding, the dress is very important. Which of course is why it's also expensive. However, do you know where to go looking for a dress? In this article we will talk about where…

According to the Knot the average wedding dress costs over $ 1,200.

And because the bride is the focal point of any wedding, the dress is very important.

Which of course is why it's also expensive.

However, do you know where to go looking for a dress?

In this article we will talk about where to look for a wedding dress.

The first place to look of course is a store that specializes in selling wedding dresses.

They are a great place to look because this is what they do all of the time.

So they will know the trends.

For example is lace in or out?

Do women now prefer mermaid or a-line dresses?

They will know what type of dress will look best on you.

For example if you are long and slender they may recommend an a-line.

If you are more pear-shaped, they may go with an empire bust to keep the eyes up top.

Or if you really want to rock the curves – the mermaid.

And will work with you to find a dress that meets your budget.

But remember a wedding gown is not just another dress.

With all of the lace and crystals and frills – it's a piece of art, not just clothing.

The next option is a high end department store.

They will not have traditional wedding dresses.

However, if you are planning a courthouse wedding or an elopement you may not want to have a fancy wedding dress.

Instead you could pick a very nice dress or even a pant suit for your special day.

Another benefit of buying a dress like this is that you could re-use it.

This is an important consideration if you are trying to maximize your budget when you get married.

Another option is consignment shops and thrift stores.

These are places to find previously worn dresses.

And are great places to shop if you want to find vintage dresses. Which can provide a classical look on a ramen noodle budget.

Finally you can of course shop online.

For example even Amazon has a wide selection of dresses.

And there are other sites that specialize in wedding dresses.

Just make sure to plan on alterations.

And to verify the site's return policy so if you have to return it after you receive it you can.

Shopping for a wedding dress is important. And now that you know of the best places to look it will take the stress out of shopping for that perfect dress.

Organizing a wedding can be very challenging time, as there are seemingly hundreds of things to think about and organist. Ordering and sending out your wedding invitation cards is just one other thing to do on a very long list. Here are some top tips on how to pick out your invitations, making the whole process a lot quicker and easier.

First of all, you need to remember to start early when it comes to selecting your cards and sending them out. Remember that your cards will need to be sent about two months before the actual wedding, so that people have enough time to reserve the date for the big day. For this reason, make sure that you are thinking about choosing the design of your cards at least a month before that.

The first tip is to think about the theme and style of your wedding; you may decide on having a modern theme for your wedding, which can be reflected in your cards. If you are having a traditional wedding that suits the culture of your country or ethnicity, consider having a type of card that reflects that.

There are many different styles to choose from, so take your time to look for a selection to see if there is anything that catch your eye in particular. You may decide that a classic card is best for you, or see something something unusual that you think will suit the theme of your wedding. Choosing a theme first of all can help you narrow your choices down a lot quicker.

Next, think about the price of the invitations. Wedding budgets can get out of hand, and for this reason you will need to set a budget for your cards as well. Have a browse online at the different options available to you, regardless of the theme or design that you are looking for. You can then get a rough idea of what price ranges are available.

Find the cheapest type of card on the market, and also see how much the most expensive cards are too. You will then be able to work out what you will be able to afford in relation to what is available. After setting your budget and deciding your theme, it becomes much easier to find something that is going to suit you and is going to be affordable.

Next, think about the design that you want to put on your wedding invitations. The first part of the design is the color, and you can integrate colors that you are using in your wedding theme. If you are planning on having purples and pinks featuring in your bridesmaid dresses and flower displays, think about including these in your wedding invitation cards too.

Note that certain colors are associated with classic and formal invitations, whereas others can be associated with more informal and unusual weddings. Classic colors for wedding invitations include white, black, silver and gold, so bear this in mind if you want to stick with a traditional theme. Cream is also a common color for traditional wedding invitations.

One thing to be aware of is making sure that your cards are readable. This is important in the case where you are playing around with different colors and fonts. As mentioned above, your colors and any other stylistic elements can be matched with your theme.

Remember, however, to not sacrifice the readability of your cards for style. Ensure that invitees can find the information that they need easily and quickly when reading your card.

You will also want to consider the size of your cards. Although you can try playing around with the shape of your cards – and this is often a great way to add a touch of style originality – be aware that larger sized cards will cost more to post. This can add significantly to your budget.

These are just a few tips to bear in mind when choosing your wedding invitation cards. From the colors to the size of your cards, take into account the above advice, and your selection will be much easier.

What dresses to wear to such events? This can become a very long process that will involve advice from friends and a long tour through all the clothing stores in order to look for the best dress for that day. This is something that astounds everyone. You really require no less than six to eight months to get your outfit – and that is in case you're truly uniquivocal. In case you're a fastidious customer or do not generally recognize what you need, begin looking eight to 10 months before your wedding.

Give yourself a lot of time; in the event that you set it aside for a really long time, your determination of dresses could be restricted or you may settle on a snappy choice you might lament later. Once you've discovered your outfit, give yourself no less than eight weeks to make changes, says Terry Hall, design chief at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. Custom outfits take six to eight months to tailor all things considered, and intensely adorned ones can take up to a year. Why so much time? A muslin variant of a custom outfit is made before the real dress to ensure an impossible fit.

There is no question that wedding days are a big deal for most women even if they are not the ones getting married. The reason why this is so important for most women is because they know they will get to see a lot of family and friends and they want to look their best.

We have good news and we have bad news. The good news is that you will be able to wear a large number of dresses for a wedding and look great in them. The bad news is that this is going to depend heavily on how confident you are about yourself.

Some of the most iconic women in the world have always said that a woman can look good wearing any kind of dress as long as she looks confident wearing it. Apply this rule to every single dress you purchase and you will have the perfect dress on your hands. It does not matter what color it is, or what shape and size. If your instinct tells you that you look good on it, you need to go for it.

This is the best advice we can give you, but you should also follow the guidelines of the event and this means that a certain level of elegance is always called for when it comes to weddings.
